Postpartum Care Spagyric

$30.00

Spagyric tinctures of Shepherds’ purse, Motherwort, Wild yam, Red Clover, Chaste Tree, Blessed Thistle, Nettle. 10 ml bottle. Can take 5-10 drops daily, or every 3-15 minutes as needed in emergency. Discontinue after about the first 14 days postpartum.

This is a tincture specific for the first hours up to 10-14 days postpartum only, used for postpartum bleeding, reducing lochia, bringing in breastmilk, reducing postpartum cramping and balancing hormones. This remedy is a wonderful one to have on hand for emergency postpartum hemorrhage use as well.

Shepherd’s purse is a wonderful herb for postpartum hemorrhage, helping induce contractions to facilitate expulsion of the placenta, and slowing blood loss and lochia in general in the weeks following birth, bringing the uterus back to size, as well as balancing hormones postpartum. This tincture can be taken in rapid doses 10-20 minutes apart in case of emergency postpartum, be it immediately after birth, or a day or two later. It contains compounds that stimulate circulation, balance hormones, and exert an anti-inflammatory effect which can reduce pain in postpartum (after pains). In this way it can be a helpful tonic for more general support in the first week or two postpartum. This mild member of the mustard group is high in oxytocin, contains more calcium per 100g than milk, and has all the factors needed for calcium absorption.

Motherwort is a wonderful herb for easing postpartum uterine after pains, and is also a great herb for hemorrhage and reducing postpartum blood loss in general. It also can relieve feelings of depression, stress, overwhelm and anxiety, being a wonderful nervine.

Wild yam is a uterine antispasmodic that is great for reducing postpartum cramping (after pains), and also has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce pain further. Wild yam has been found to be effective at reducing pain, especially nerve pain from any kind of pelvic surgery. This includes surgery for endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroid removal, and cesarian section.

Red Clover can help cleanse and tone the uterus postpartum, as well as deeply nourishing and replenishing minerals lost through pregnancy and lactation. It will help produce abundant breast milk and keep mother feeling relaxed and healthy.

Nettles is another amazing deep mineral rich nourishing tonic herb for pregnancy and postpartum, helping replenish lost minerals and transition well into breastfeeding.

Chaste tree can be used in low doses (as in this formula) in the first 10 or so days postpartum to stabilize hormones and increase lactation.

Blessed thistle increases hormones prolactin and oxytocin, aiding in increasing breastmilk supply, bringing milk in, and bonding with baby in the first days after birth.

If you wish to increase a low milk supply longer term, or to support hormones longer term after birth, please see my other spagyric mama’s wellness blends which are more suitable for long term use.
